Three monographs have been published: The Infrastructure of State Infrastructural Capacity: IdentificatIon and State Building (China Social Science Press, 2013), Virtual Reality Inside and Out: A Brief History of Internet Governance (Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, 2023), and Imbalanced Leviathan: The Cultural and Political Roots of America's Division (SDX Joint Publishing Company, 2024), and four co-authored books: Freedom, Authority, Diversity (Social Science Academic Press, 2011), The Great Way of China (Renmin University of China Press, 2015), Good Governance in a City State: State-building in Singapore (Social Science Academic Press, 2017), and Awakening and Transcendence (China Youth Publishing Group, 2022), and three translations: The Warren Court and American Politics (China University of Political Science and Law Press, 2005), Beyond Electocracy (Peking University Press, 2014), and The Revival of Sortition (Contemporary World Press, 2023), and he has published more than a hundred academic articles.
